Save car "beta" test
On the S-Tuner page, Admin posted a link to an updated save car function, so i decided to try it out and document my findings best i could.

I started by using the S12 Chassis. Why the S12? it is, in theory, the oldest model in game (the S13s have been updated to add interior). IF anything, maybe an older file would make the save a bit harder to load correctly? At this point i'm just trying to throw everything i can at it. So here was the quick build:

The build consisted of copy/pasted parts (M-FB Front bar 2 Lip 3), split parts (T_E80 Impulse flares/ T-E80 Rear flare 3), rotated parts (flares and exhaust), and even a part that had a decal applied to it (exhaust). The wheels were set to [Complex] and many parts were altered in every aspect, position, rotation, and scale. Saved the file and loaded it up again:

Yup you are looking at things right, this is the loaded build, not the same pictures. I was definitely surprised over the VAST and OBVIOUS improvements over the...uh.. "alpha." The only thing that didn't load properly was the decal applied to the exhaust. I really didn't expect it to load the decal, but, hey, it was worth a shot.

For the second test, i built something a bit more "contemporary" and went with the newly released GTO. For this build we included a majorty of the items from the last, we have parts that have been split and modified in every way, parts that have been copied, but in this build we also add flip paint, different wheels, and specific alterations to wheel specs (namely concavity and dish). Here's the build:

Once again when i loaded up the build, i was surprised to see the same results. Even the wheel specs remained!

The flip paint was successfully loaded (although that was never really an issue with the "alpha"), both sets of wheels were loaded correctly with the right specs and axle positions, and all the altered parts spawned in where they were.

The new save in this build of the program works INSANELY well for custom bodywork. The only other variables i've been wanting to try are the custom files, namely the E30 and 964 since they're more "complete," but eventually the ZN6 (half complete), and other unofficial models. Sorry to invade the forum with these half-assed pictures, but i figured it'd get the right attention here rather than on facebook.

RE: Save car "beta" test
Nice test Smile Have you tried to experiment with engines (and, specifically, pipes)? Do they load correctly?

RE: Save car "beta" test
Thanks for the feedback.

Very useful.

Yes i've found it to be a big improvement.
All the 'issues' at the moment revolve around the Save aspect.

so any custom cars etc will be unaffected as the Load part has never changed.

A few people have tested the engine part, and it too has improved, however there still seems to be some minor bugs in Rotated parts.
I've been unable to reproduce the issue so far, making interconnected pipes have saved/loaded fine.

If the general consensus is that its improved, then it'll be moved to the official version shortly.... i just didnt want to make changes that were a step backwards!
